The jingle and tinkle of the bells in the air. The “clippety clop” of the horses’ hooves. The crunch of the snow as we traveled down brown bridge road while the brisk air whooshed by our bundled up faces.
Our ride left after some fireside drinks and snacks at the main lodge. We met our driver, Seth, and loaded up our party as we sat amongst the hay. Then we were off to view the gorgeous terrain near Ranch Rudolf. Of course, some Christmas carols broke out with our group, as we connected, laughed and shared out hearts within the natural beauty of Northern Michigan, specifically the Boardman River Valley. The opportunity to share this moment with friends, coworkers and my children was priceless. The evening was complete with a wonderful dinner at the lodge.
From RanchRudolf.com Sleigh Rides:
During the winter months, Ranch Rudolf offers horse-drawn sleigh or hayrides. Our Belgian horses, Prince and Monte, will take you for a scenic ride through the Boardman River Valley which turns into a true winter wonderland between December and late February. These guys are each around 2200 lbs of true beauty.
Your ride will start at the Ranch and you will be taken through the woods down a seasonal road and along the Boardman River where you will loop around back toward the Ranch. The ride itself takes approximately 45 minutes.
Reservations are required. Get your group of people together and call to make a reservation for your own group’s ride. Call us at 231-947-9529 for an available time. Once a reservation has been made we have a no refund policy. Rides during the winter season are generally available on Saturdays and Sundays, with extended hours around the Christmas and New Year Season. We are closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Sleigh or hayrides are $15 per person and children 2 and under are free. There is a minimum charge of $150 if you have fewer than 10 people in your group. The sleigh or wagon can accommodate up to 20 people per ride so bring your friends and family for a special activity that has been enjoyed for generations.
A Special Note Regarding Your Ride
Please understand that when the drivers are harnessing horses for your ride they will decide if they will be hooking the horses to the wagon or to the sleigh, depending on conditions.
Don’t miss this wonderful winter opportunity with your family, friends, coworkers, staff or team. It was truly a fun experience!
